Heather Defferary
Usually the work consists of seemingly disconnected fragments, subtle hints ambiguously placed between abstraction and figuration. No one subject encompasses the work; fragments of emotions and issues are the details explored. The ghosts and sadness of previous work now diluted and despatched by colour and much simpler forms.
The three dimensional work symbolises the sometimes unspeakable situations within some lives lived in our society today. I use instantly recognisable images – triggering memories usually of happy childhoods where we flourished: but these same images, I know to some signify utter horror, bad ‘rememberings’ and sadness – Ironic Images.
